xx Significant anniversaries
« Thread started on: Sep 4th, 2010, 09:35am »

This time next year (September 2011, or thereabouts) there are two significant anniversaries: BBC BASIC will be 30 years old and BBC BASIC for Windows will be 10 years old!

Now is the time to put your thinking caps on and come up with ideas for how best to celebrate these events, and if possible use them to promote BB4W. I doubt that there will be as much free publicity as there was for the 25th anniversary of BBC BASIC in 2006, so we may have to be more inventive. Any (practical) suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's a scary thought that I have now been associated with BBC BASIC for more than half my life!

Richard.

I am wondering, did we meet all those years ago in 1980/1? I and John Coll were closely involved in the development of BBC BASIC. We were at Oundle School at the time.

Not as far as I know, but even if there was a chance of me remembering that far back you haven't divulged your real name! Of course I've met John several times since, most recently at the Beeb@30 reunion in 2012 I expect.

I'm afraid it doesn't ring a bell. I only came on the scene in 'round two' after the Newbrain had been ditched and the BBC realised, belatedly, that it should involve BBC Engineering in the selection process (which culminated in Acorn being chosen).
