xx Installing both version 5 and version 6

BB4W v5.95a and v6.00a will happily co-exist, and you can have shortcuts to both (with targets bbcwin.exe and bbcwin6.exe respectively) in your Start Menu or on the Desktop.

The only caveat is that, since they share the same registry entries, your recent files list and customization settings etc. (e.g. default user memory) will necessarily be the same.

One specific thing to watch out for is that, since the add-in utilities are also shared, the Profiler (slot 6 in the Utilities menu, normally) will be the version 6 profiler (profile6.exe) in both cases. That is assuming BB4W v6 was installed last, which you should normally ensure so you get the latest libraries etc.

If you are using both BB4W v5.95a and v6.00a for writing new programs you may well want both profilers to be available, so I would suggest that you use the Utilities Manager (slot 9) to add the version 5 profiler (profiler.exe) as one of the extras.

Richard.
