There are two things I would like to know:
1) Is it possible to create a document like in Microsoft Office Word in BBC BASIC rather than the edit window?
2) Is it possible to do spelling checks? Like if you typed a word and you mispelled it and it would underline it. If so, is it possible to do grammar as well?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. If the question is "could you (in principle) write an entire word processor in BBC BASIC rather than using an embedded Edit Control?" then the answer is yes, but it would be a lot of work!

As far as I know you'd have to do it yourself by copying the text out of the Edit Control, running the spelling/grammar check on the text, then highlighting the appropriate words/phrases. If you use a Rich Edit control rather than a regular Edit Control you have a range of text attributes available, such as bold, italic, underline, strike-out and colour.
