I know of a variation of basic called Purebasic. It runs on four platforms:
The use of a linux based system in no more only for the geeks. Many among us see it as a wordy contender to windows. So running BB4W native instead of using Wine sounds good. Even without an IDE, maybe we could use the Wine way for editing the code, and use the result for 'compiling' the native running code.
